Meg’s Journey
My journey
I remember feeling other people’s emotions in my body as if they were my own, even as a small child. I assumed everyone was experiencing this, but nobody ever mentioned it, so I thought it was a shameful secret. My family was so loving and wonderful, but they were not wired like me. I was raised in a culture that viewed the unseen and the mystical with skepticism and contempt. I responded by masking and shutting down my sensitivity, but all along I was unconsciously absorbing and processing the emotions and traumas of everyone around me.
Like most healer children, I was never taught energetic boundaries, how to release what was not mine, or how to build the capacity in my nervous system to manage my innate wiring.
I didn’t know why life was so intense and such a struggle for me – I thought I was weak and broken. My body started to buckle under the weight, and by the age of ten I developed severe physical symptoms that doctors were unable to diagnose. As a teen I was a high achiever on the outside, but tortured with deep melancholy, depression and illness behind the scenes.
In my twenties I started a lifelong path of searching for answers, but it would take a long time for me to understand and accept my true nature.
In essence I was always a healer, but in my lack of awareness I was misusing that capacity, and had spent years unconsciously processing the collective field and absorbing the energetic burdens of people around me. My body and soul were weighed down, sick and tired. I started to retreat from the world and isolate in an attempt manage overwhelm. I had a successful design business that I loved, but living in a perpetual push-crash cycle ultimately led to a scary rock bottom in my health.
By my early thirties I was forced to make dramatic changes in my life. I shut down my business, sold my house, and moved to a secluded town in the Southern Highlands of NSW to cocoon and reconfigure. I threw myself into rigorous therapy, opened up to meditation and spirituality, and dedicated myself to learning and growth. The shifts and openings were profound.
This inner work triggered a massive spontaneous opening of my energetic gifts. The experience of the new energies and knowings exploding into my awareness was shocking and a bit scary. I was beyond fortunate to meet Suzannah Taylor, Master Healer and author at this turning point in my life. She helped me understand the power pouring through me, and how to safely work with it. She became my mentor, teacher and guide, for which I’m forever grateful.
I felt urgently called to share my intuitive gifts, and began helping others – first through remedial massage, and then with energy healing and creating soul portraits for people. Some of the breakthroughs I helped people achieve were mind blowing and miraculous.
But in the background I was always conflicted about my true nature, and there was a reservoir of grief I wasn’t yet ready to face.
Then I became a mum – I felt pulled to be a sole parent (by choice), and it was magnificent! Such joy and love for this magical little girl… and it was also the hardest path I have ever embarked upon. We endured so many ordeals I could never have seen coming. In my forties all my healing work went on hold as I stepped into a caring role for my sensitive, wise, talented and brilliant daughter who was going through her own struggles.
By the time she was fully recovered and thriving in her own right, there was a moment of grim reckoning for me. I was overjoyed for her, but I was now in mental, physical and emotional crisis. In caring for others and keeping our little boat afloat all by myself, I had neglected to notice or take care of myself… again! Burnout, trauma, chronic illness and pain had taken me out. My nervous system was fried and I had spiralled into severe ME/CFS, fibromyalgia, food intolerances and a host of other debilitating symptoms. I was barely functioning.
So my fifties became the time to make recovery, growth and expansion my first imperative. Healing has taken time and dedicated practice, but it has been deep and transformative. The openings and power downloads that have unfolded are beyond description, and I have stepped into a whole new level of mastery. My calling into healing work was re-ignited and magnificently levelled-up!
Now in my late fifties, I have learned how to build capacity in my nervous system, to hold and manage the huge frequencies I process, and to engage with my physical body in a loving way that supports nourishment and wellness. I’m moving always in the direction of embodied wholeness and expansion.
So after all this struggle I am very well qualified to help others who are also suffering and overwhelmed, sick, lost or stuck. Sensitives with important gifts to share that have buried their truth under masking and self abandonment. Empaths who hold power and wisdom the world desperately needs right now. These are my Kindred Souls.
If your story is like mine and you have been through life overriding your finely-tuned wiring, I see you. This is my message for you: you are not over-sensitive. You are not being dramatic. You are not imagining things. You see more, feel more, carry more and process more than others. You are an empath, healer, carer, change-maker or light worker. We need you now. Your nervous system may be jammed in fight-flight or freeze mode. Your body might be yelling at you to stop. Your soul may be crying out that you’re not living fully into your sense of purpose and truth.
There is a safe space for you here. It’s time to come home to yourself.
I’m here to support you in claiming the unique gifts that are your birthright and clearing away the heavy burdens you’ve been lugging around unconsciously, so your real power, wellbeing and joy can shine. If we work together, we can each do our part to contribute to the evolution of consciousness on the planet, and help steer the world in the direction of love.
Let’s create a world where sensitives are celebrated and honoured for the special and unique gifts they bring to the planet.
